Recommendation: Very good. Classic yet delicious breakfast entrees make this Lyndale Avenue diner a great place to hang out on a weekend morning with coffee and the paper.
Egg & I reminds us of a 1950s retro diner with its red walls, old movie posters, funky art, eclectic servers, and well lit bright interior. On weekends, it is buzzing with people and sometimes it is hard to get a table so get here early. They usually have a stack of newspapers that you can grab to go along with coffee or juice. The crowd is diverse...from young Uptowners to families with kids. The menu is classic breakfast diner food…Eggs done every which way (served with Hashbrowns and Toast), Waffles, and Pancakes. They also have healthy options like Granola and Yogurt.

The Kamikaze Pancakes, which are pancakes topped with blueberries, bananas, and walnuts and stuffed with blueberries is a giant meal in itself (we ordered two and barely got through half). It is cooked to a beautiful brown color and is delicious. The sweetness from the blueberries cuts down on the amount of syrup you need to add. We tried a couple of their Eggs...Sunny side up and Scrambled and both were good. The accompanying Hashbrowns were really good...crisp and not too thick. A friend tried the Everything Omelet and really enjoyed it.

$. Breakfast dishes are under $10. Free parking in the lot right next to the restaurant; street parking is plenty too.
