Service: N/A (only tried cafeteria style and delivery)
Ambience: 6
Recommendation: Very Good. Pizza Luce serves delicious pizza at a time when pizza tastes best; 2am after the bars close!
Pizza Luce offers a late night dining experience like no other. It is located in the heart of the Warehouse District and is really popular with the after bar crowd because it is open until 3:30am on Friday and Saturday nights. Its closest competition at that time is the Taco Bell just outside of downtown on I-394. As you can imagine, Pizza Luce does great business. Be prepared to wait in a 20-30 minute line even at 3am. Most times, the line stretches all the way down Fourth Street. There is no parking on Fourth Street either. They have several locations including one in Uptown and a new one in St. Paul. They also have a delivery option.
Their menu consists of not just pizzas, but hot pastas, hoagies, and appetizers (wings, nuggets, etc) also. They have a nice variety of vegetarian and vegan selections. While their individual slices are pretty reasonable (around $3), a large pizza will cost you $18-$21 (before tax and tip). The Classic Pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage, Green Peppers, and Onions is our favorite. A newer pizza called Ruby Rae, which is an "upside down" pizza with sauce on top was also excellent. The Spinach and Mozzarella tasted very fresh and the big chunks of Sausage were delicious as usual. The Red Pepper flakes gave it a nice kick. For late night dining, we prefer a simple Cheese or Pepperoni/Sausage slice…this classic New York style pizza which is wide and thin with its foldable crust never fails to hit the spot!
